എങ്ങനെ ഉപയോഗിക്കാം
- 1Upload your PDF by dragging it into the upload area or clicking to browse your files.
- 2Enter an open password that recipients will use to view the document. Optionally add a separate owner password to control editing permissions.
- 3Select the permission restrictions you want to apply: printing, copying, editing, or page extraction.
- 4Choose the encryption standard — AES-256 for modern readers or RC4-128 for compatibility with older software.
- 5Click 'Encrypt' and download the protected PDF. Share the password with intended recipients through a separate, secure channel.
You have a PDF containing payroll data, a legal settlement, or a confidential proposal and you need to send it by email. Email is not encrypted end-to-end by default, and once a file leaves your outbox you have no control over who forwards it, who opens attachments on shared computers, or whether the recipient's inbox is properly secured. Adding a password to the PDF itself solves this problem at the file level — the document requires the password regardless of where it ends up or how it is transmitted. Dokk.ai encrypts PDF files using 128-bit RC4 (for compatibility with older readers) or AES-256-bit encryption — the same standard used by financial institutions and government agencies. You can set two separate passwords: an open password that recipients must enter to view the document, and an owner password that controls editing permissions. Permission flags allow you to specifically prohibit printing, copying text, extracting pages, modifying the document, or filling in form fields, even for users who know the open password. This makes it possible to share a readable document while preventing downstream modification or redistribution. The encryption is applied directly in your browser environment — your file and your chosen password are not logged or retained after the encrypted output is generated. The resulting PDF is a standard encrypted file that any PDF reader can handle: Adobe Acrobat, macOS Preview, browser-based viewers, and mobile PDF apps on iOS and Android all support AES-256 PDF encryption without any special software requirements on the recipient's end. For organizations handling sensitive client documents, the watermark tool can be used alongside encryption — add a visible CONFIDENTIAL or recipient-specific stamp before encrypting, so any screenshot or printout carries identifying information even if the file itself is unlocked. For documents that have reached the end of their secured lifecycle, the Unlock PDF tool removes password protection from files you own the password to, restoring full editing access. If you need to share a document that absolutely must not be printed or saved, consider using the Flatten tool first to collapse any form fields and annotations into static page content before encrypting, which prevents any interactive element from being exploited to extract content in an unintended way.
