How many files can I include in a single batch job?

Free accounts can batch up to 10 files per job. Premium accounts support up to 100 files per job. Premium+ accounts support unlimited files. For very large volumes, splitting into multiple batch jobs is also supported.

Can I apply different settings to different files in the same batch?

Batch processing applies identical settings to all files in a job. For different settings per file, submit separate batch jobs. Alternatively, use Workflows with conditional branching to route files to different operation configurations based on file properties.

What happens if one file in the batch fails to process?

The job continues processing all other files. The failed file is listed in the results with an error message explaining why it failed (corrupted file, password-protected without a provided password, unsupported format, etc.). Successfully processed files are included in the ZIP regardless of individual failures.

Do I need to stay on the page while the batch processes?

No. Batch jobs run as background tasks on Dokk.ai's servers. You can close the browser tab, shut down your computer, or log out. Log back into your account when the job is complete and find the results waiting in your job history.

Can I OCR scan a batch of mixed-quality scans?

Yes. The OCR operation handles variable-quality scans within a single batch. Each file is processed independently with the same quality settings. Results vary by scan quality — very poor scans may have lower accuracy regardless of batch or single-file processing.

How long does a batch job take?

Processing time depends on the operation and file sizes. A batch of 50 compressed-size PDFs through OCR typically completes in 5–10 minutes. A batch of 100 large files through a complex operation may take 20–30 minutes. The job status page shows real-time progress.

Can I watermark files with different text per file (e.g., each file's filename)?

Yes. The watermark text field supports template variables including {{filename}}, {{date}}, {{page}}, and custom metadata. This allows each output file to carry a watermark personalised with its own name or other attributes.

Is there a maximum file size per file in a batch?

Per-file limits match the standard tool limits: up to 25 MB for Free accounts and up to 500 MB per file for Premium plans. The total batch size (all files combined) is limited to 2 GB per job for Premium+ accounts.

Can I reuse a batch configuration for recurring jobs?

Yes. Save a batch configuration as a named template and reuse it for future jobs. For fully automated recurring jobs triggered by a schedule or file arrival, use the Workflows tool which adds scheduling and trigger-based automation.

How are the output files named?

By default, each output file retains the original filename with the operation suffix added (e.g., report_compressed.pdf). You can customise the naming pattern using a template that includes the original filename, date, counter, and other variables.
