You are sending a draft report to a client for review, but you need it to be clear that this version is not final and should not be redistributed. Or you are distributing a price list to resellers and want each copy traceable to the recipient. Or you have created a document and need to assert ownership before sharing it publicly. A watermark embedded directly in the PDF page content is the most direct solution — it cannot be stripped by copy-pasting text, and it survives printing, screenshotting, and re-scanning. Dokk.ai's watermark tool lets you add text or image watermarks to every page of a PDF without requiring any software installation. For text watermarks, you can specify the text content, font size, color, opacity, rotation angle, and position — diagonal center placement is the most common choice for CONFIDENTIAL or DRAFT stamps, but you can also position watermarks in corners, along headers, or at the bottom of each page. For image watermarks, upload a PNG or SVG logo file and control its size and opacity so it overlays pages without obscuring content. The watermark is rendered directly into the page content stream, not added as a separate annotation layer. This means it appears in every context where the PDF is viewed — screen, print, screenshot — and cannot be hidden by toggling annotation visibility in Acrobat. Transparency is controlled by the opacity setting, allowing a watermark to be visible without making the underlying text difficult to read. A typical CONFIDENTIAL stamp uses 20-30% opacity so the text remains legible beneath it. For multi-page documents, the watermark is applied to every page by default, but a page range selector lets you restrict it to specific pages — for example, stamping only the cover page with a logo while leaving the content pages unmarked, or applying a DRAFT watermark only to pages that are still under review.
