Does the converter preserve formulas in the PDF?

No — and that is intentional. PDF is a presentation format, not a data format. The converter evaluates all formulas and renders their results as static values. This prevents recipients from seeing or modifying your underlying logic.

What happens to charts and graphs?

Charts are rendered as vector graphics in the PDF, which means they remain crisp at any zoom level and print cleanly at high resolution. The chart type, colors, labels, and legend are preserved exactly as they appear in Excel.

Will the PDF include all sheets in my workbook?

Yes. Each worksheet is converted and appears as a separate section in the PDF, in the same order as the tabs in your workbook. Hidden sheets are excluded by default.

My spreadsheet has wide columns that go off the page. How is that handled?

The converter uses the print settings defined in your workbook, including fit-to-page scaling. If no print area is set, content is scaled to fit the defined page size. You can adjust this in Excel before uploading by setting a print area or adjusting the page layout.

Does it support XLS files, not just XLSX?

Yes. Both the legacy XLS format (Excel 97-2003) and the modern XLSX format are supported. ODS files from LibreOffice Calc are also accepted.

Is there a file size limit?

Standard conversions support files up to 100 MB. For very large workbooks with thousands of rows and embedded images, processing may take slightly longer but will complete successfully.

How long are my files stored on the server?

Files are deleted automatically as soon as your download is complete, and in any case within one hour of upload. Nothing is retained for longer than necessary to complete the conversion.

Can I convert multiple Excel files at once?

Yes. The Batch Processing feature accepts multiple XLSX files simultaneously and converts them all in a single operation, packaging the results in a ZIP archive for convenient download.

The PDF looks different from what I see in Excel. What might cause that?

The most common cause is fonts. If your workbook uses fonts that are not embedded and are not standard system fonts, the converter may substitute a fallback. Embedding fonts in the workbook before uploading resolves this in most cases.

Can I go back from PDF to Excel if I need to edit the data?

Yes. The PDF to Excel tool on dokk.ai extracts tables from a PDF back into an editable XLSX file. For scanned or image-based PDFs, the OCR feature can first extract the text before conversion.
